Al Midan is looking for an experienced IT Focal point who is experienced in the field.

The IT Officer will be responsible for overseeing the organization's IT systems, ensuring they are running smoothly and securely, and providing technical support to staff. This role is essential in maintaining the NGO's digital operations, data security, and connectivity to support program implementation.

To address the growing needs of children and youth in Lebanon, AL Midan is implementing the Makani project, utilizing a Multi-Service Community Centre (MSCC) approach across 3 community centers in the North (T5 area). This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive package of integrated services targeting marginalized and vulnerable children and youth aged 0-18 years, as well as their caregivers. The MSCCs serve as safe spaces offering a variety of programs, including education, child protection, early childhood development (ECD), life skills, and youth engagement support, all through a community-based approach. The goal is to reach both Syrian and Lebanese vulnerable children in host communities, as well as collective and informal settlements.

Al Midan NGO has a zero tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of beneficiaries. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours).  Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.

Major Responsibilities: 

  1. IT System Management:
    • Manage and maintain the NGO’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and communication systems.
    • Ensure the organization’s computer systems are operational and meet the needs of staff, ensuring proper configuration and functionality.
    • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and other software tools for staff use.
    • Ensure that all systems and networks are regularly updated with the latest software and security patches.
  2. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
    • Provide IT support to staff, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, setting up new devices, and resolving technical problems in a timely manner.
    • Assist with the installation and configuration of new IT equipment (e.g., computers, printers, smartphones).
    • Provide training and guidance to staff on IT tools and systems, ensuring they can use technology efficiently and effectively.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve network, connectivity, and equipment issues.
  3. Data Management and Security:
    • Implement and enforce data security protocols to protect organizational data, including backups, encryption, and access controls.
    • Maintain proper data storage and archiving systems to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
  4. Network Administration:
    • Oversee the management of the organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and internet connectivity.
    • Ensure stable internet access and optimal network performance for staff, especially in areas where remote or field operations are common.
    • Manage the configuration and maintenance of firewalls, routers, and other network devices.
    • Provide support for video conferencing, VoIP systems, and other communication tools used by staff.
  5. Software Management:
    • Manage and ensure the licensing of software programs used by the organization, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Install, configure, and upgrade software as needed, including productivity tools, specialized programs for project management, or any other tools required by the NGO.
    • Provide technical support for the use of specialized software, and train staff on the appropriate use of these tools.
  6. IT Documentation:
    • Maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, procedures, and configurations.
    • Create and update user manuals and guides for staff to follow IT protocols.
    • Ensure that all equipment, network configurations, and software installations are documented and recorded for future reference.
  7. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Regularly monitor IT systems and services to ensure they are functioning correctly and provide reports on the status of IT systems and potential areas for improvement.
    • Conduct regular reviews and audits of IT operations, identifying and addressing inefficiencies or security risks.

 

Professional Standards:

All Al Midan staff are required to adhere to the Al Midan policies and practices with respect to child protection minimum standards, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • At least 2-3 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or a similar role, preferably within an NGO or development context.
    • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, and system administration.
    • Experience with managing data security, including network security, backups, and data protection protocols.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong technical knowledge of IT systems, networks, hardware, and software.
    • Proficient in operating systems (Windows, macOS, and Linux) and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience with network administration, including routers, firewalls, and other network devices.
    • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues promptly and effectively.
    • Ability to train non-technical staff on IT systems and software.
    • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and the ability to implement data protection measures.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical staff.
    • Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written) is required. Proficiency in English is a plus.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, especially during technical issues or system upgrades.
    • Flexibility to work outside of regular hours if required (e.g., during system updates or urgent issues).

The role  require occasional travel to field sites to provide on-site IT support.
