Al Midan is looking for an experienced Social Worker who is experienced in the field.
The Social Worker will provide direct support to individuals and families, helping them navigate challenges related to poverty, trauma, education, healthcare, and other socio-economic issues. The role involves delivering case management, counseling services, and community outreach, ensuring that clients have access to the resources and support they need.
To address the growing needs of children and youth in Lebanon, AL Midan is implementing the Makani project, utilizing a Multi-Service Community Centre (MSCC) approach across 3 community centers in the North (T5 area). This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive package of integrated services targeting marginalized and vulnerable children and youth aged 0-18 years, as well as their caregivers. The MSCCs serve as safe spaces offering a variety of programs, including education, child protection, early childhood development (ECD), life skills, and youth engagement support, all through a community-based approach. The goal is to reach both Syrian and Lebanese vulnerable children in host communities, as well as collective and informal settlements.
Al Midan NGO has a zero tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of beneficiaries. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.

Major Responsibilities:
- Case Management and Support:
- Conduct intake assessments to understand the needs, strengths, and challenges of individuals and families seeking support.
- Develop and implement individualized case plans that address the specific needs of each client.
- Provide one-on-one counseling and support services to clients, offering emotional, social, and practical assistance.
- Assist clients in accessing services such as healthcare, education, legal support, and housing.
- Advocacy and Resource Linkage:
- Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they receive appropriate services, including healthcare, financial assistance, and legal aid.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local service providers, governmental agencies, and other NGOs to facilitate client access to resources.
- Provide information and referrals to clients regarding available social services, legal rights, and support networks.
- Community Outreach and Empowerment:
- Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness about available services and support within the community.
- Facilitate community-based workshops and group sessions on topics such as health, rights, and life skills, with a focus on empowerment.
- Work closely with community leaders and other stakeholders to address issues affecting marginalized groups.
- Crisis Intervention and Support:
- Provide crisis intervention services in emergencies, helping clients cope with immediate challenges such as domestic violence, displacement, or family breakdowns.
- Assess and intervene in cases of child protection, gender-based violence, and other urgent matters in accordance with child protection and safeguarding policies.
- Monitoring and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, ensuring that all client interactions, assessments, and progress reports are documented according to organizational standards.
- Regularly monitor the progress of clients’ cases, providing follow-up support and adjusting case plans as necessary.
- Prepare reports for management, donors, and external stakeholders as required.
- Support and Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams:
- Collaborate with other program staff, including healthcare workers, educators, legal professionals, and psychologists, to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Attend regular team meetings to share information, discuss challenges, and develop strategies for improving service delivery.
- Participate in training and capacity-building activities to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
- Confidentiality and Ethical Practice:
- Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines to protect client information and ensure ethical practice in all interactions.
- Ensure that all services are provided in a respectful and non-judgmental manner, maintaining the dignity and rights of clients at all times.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Collect data on social work interventions and client outcomes to assess the impact of the services provided.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports on social work activities for donors, management, and other stakeholders.

Job Requirements:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field. A Master's degree in Social Work is an advantage.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in social work, preferably in an NGO, humanitarian, or development context.
- Experience working with marginalized populations, such as refugees, children, and people with disabilities, is highly desirable.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of social work principles, case management, and crisis intervention.
- Experience in counseling, advocacy, and resource linkage.
- Knowledge of the Lebanese social services landscape and available support systems for vulnerable populations.
- Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written) is required. Proficiency in English is a plus.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple cases, and meet deadlines.
- High levels of empathy, patience, and respect for cultural differences.
