SICOMO is implementing a filtration system for treated wastewater that emerges at the final stage of the process. The objective is to recover fresh water and extract valuable fibers. This closed-loop system will effectively filter out impurities and suspended solids, yielding clean water that can be reused in our operations. At the same time, the retained fibers will be collected for potential recycling or other value-added applications, promoting sustainability and resource efficiency.
Objective
The main objective of this consultancy is to:
- Assess the current performance and efficiency of the water and wastewater treatment system.
- Identify opportunities to optimize higher treated water reuse processes in the recycling mill.
- Provide actionable recommendations and oversee the implementation of optimization measures.
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Assessment of the Existing Treatment System
- Review the design, operations, and maintenance practices of the current water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Evaluate treatment performance, energy efficiency, and operational costs.
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the current system.
- Optimization Study and Recommendations
- Propose improvements to enhance water reuse efficiency.
- Assess potential upgrades or modifications to the treatment process.
- Provide cost-benefit analysis for recommended improvements.
- Implementation Oversight
- Develop an implementation plan for approved recommendations.
- Provide technical support during the installation or adjustment of system components.
- Monitor the implementation phase to ensure it aligns with the intended outcomes.
- Capacity Building
- Train plant staff on optimized operational procedures and maintenance best practices.
- Develop a user-friendly manual for ongoing optimization practices.
Deliverables
Deliverable 1: Initial Assessment Report

- Detailed analysis of the current treatment plant's performance, including key findings and identified inefficiencies.
Deliverable 2: Optimization Recommendations Report

- A comprehensive report with proposed solutions, cost-benefit analysis, and expected improvements in water reuse efficiency.
Deliverable 3: Implementation Plan and Monitoring Report

- Detailed implementation plan with timelines, resource requirements, and monitoring framework.
- Progress report post-implementation detailing observed improvements and further recommendations.
Deliverable 4: Training and Operations Manual

- Training sessions conducted for plant staff.
- A manual covering optimized operational procedures and maintenance practices.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: A degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- The service provider should have at least At least 10 years of experience in the design, implementation, and optimization of industrial wastewater treatment systems
- Professionalism and Ethics: Adherence to professional standards, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
- Experience in wastewater reuse optimization, preferably within industrial facilities like recycling mills.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with local and international environmental standards and best practices.
- Company profile highlighting relevant qualifications and experience
- Use of tools and methods to finalize the consultancy mission with the support of the beneficiary
- Applications to this proposal can be from independent trainers/consultants, Corporate or Agency
How to apply
The selected Consultant is expected to start his/her activities at the soonest after selection, and the contract’s duration is 3 months, covering a minimum of 30 hours, with a budget of up to 4,730 Euro.
Candidates should submit the following documents:
- Technical (maximum two pages) describing the methodology to conduct the work based on the content suggested in the section: “Scope of Work, and Deliverables” elaborating it further.
- Profile and project references (maximum two pages): A brief explanation of the consultant(s) background should be submitted (CVs shall be included as an annex) along with project references on the topic.
- Financial Proposal describing the expected remuneration and the proposed period of the intervention.
