INTRODUCTION
The Women’s Programs Association (WPA) is a non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO), legally registered with the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities since 2008. Its mission is to provide support to Palestinian refugee women and youth and other vulnerable groups in Lebanon to develop their capacities, realize their rights, and fulfill their needs. This is achieved through Protection, Education, Livelihood, and Humanitarian Assistance programs implemented in eight Palestinian refugee camps and surroundings throughout Lebanon. WPA's work is guided by Transparency, Integrity, Non-Discrimination, Respect for Human Beings.
Women’s Programs Association announces the need for 8 Nurses: 6 in Beddawi camp and 2 in Wavel. To work within the project: “Provision of protection and health services to 720 Elderly Palestinian Refugees in Nahr El-Bared, Beddawi, and Wavel camps”.
The project is implemented in partnership with Taawon - Funded by UN-OCHA
Responsibilities
Under the direct technical supervision of Project Assistant, the incumbent will be responsible for:
- Conducting regular visits to the elderly beneficiaries and assessing their health status and needs.
- Providing basic medical services such as checking vital signs, glucose levels and blood pressure, dressing wounds, administering medications, etc.
- Ensuring proper storage of the medicine and the proper consumption of the medicine as well as offering medical tips to the elderly and their primary caregivers (in case there are) regarding their health situation.
- Educating the elderly and their caregivers on personal hygiene, nutrition, infection prevention, chronic disease management, etc.
- Distributing hygiene kits and other medical supplies as needed.
- Reporting any health issues or protection concerns to the project coordinator and referring the elderly to specialized health services when necessary.
- Documenting and updating the medical records of the beneficiaries and submitting regular reports on the activities and outcomes of the project.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field
- Palestinian
- Residency in Beddawi or Jaleel camps or close to the camp
- Basic qualifications and experience in the health care field.
- Diploma or degree in nursing from an accredited institution,
- Some clinical experience in a hospital, clinic, or other health care setting
Skills
- Clinical skills: You need to be able to perform various clinical tasks, such as taking vital signs, administering medications, dressing wounds, performing physical assessments, and using medical equipment.
- Communication skills: You need to be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and other health professionals. You need to be able to listen, empathize, explain, educate, and document.
- Critical thinking skills: You need to be able to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information from different sources, such as patient records, test results, and research evidence. You need to be able to make sound clinical judgments and decisions based on the best available data.
- Teamwork skills.l
