Cybersecurity Training Consultant
I'mPossible is working to improve cybersecurity awareness and digital literacy among youth in Sahel Akkar, focusing on protecting youth from online threats and promoting safe internet usage. Given the rise in internet usage, the community faces growing risks of cyber threats, including hacking, cyberbullying, identity theft, and phishing.
To address these issues, we aim to recruit a consultant to provide comprehensive training on cybersecurity to 20 youth, ensuring gender equality and diversity.
Duties and Responsibilities: The main objective of the consultancy is to design and facilitate an 8-day training program designed to empower youth (ages 15-22) with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
- Training Design and Development:
- Design an 8-day interactive cybersecurity training program tailored to the needs of youth (ages 15-22) in Sahel Akkar.
- Develop training materials and resources, including presentations, handouts, and case studies, that are easy to understand and accessible for participants with varying levels of digital literacy.
- Incorporate topics such as:
- Digital privacy and data protection
- Social media safety
- Identifying phishing scams and malware threats
- Cyberbullying prevention
- Safe internet practices for youth
- Needs Assessment and Preparation:
- Review the results of the needs assessment conducted with youth, parents, educators, and community members to ensure the training addresses specific cybersecurity challenges identified.
- Customize the training program to reflect local internet safety issues and concerns relevant to Sahel Akkar.
- Training Delivery:
- Deliver the 8-day training program to 20 youth participants, ensuring gender balance and diversity in backgrounds.
- Facilitate training sessions using engaging, interactive methods such as group discussions, role-playing, and practical demonstrations to ensure the content is easily absorbed.
- Foster an open and inclusive learning environment where participants feel comfortable discussing their online experiences and concerns.
- Participant Support and Capacity Building:
- Provide mentorship and ongoing support to the youth participants throughout the training period, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
- Encourage participants to become digital safety advocates within their peer networks and support them in implementing what they’ve learned in their communities.
Deliverables
The consultant is expected to provide the following deliverables:
- Training Materials: Tailored curriculum, presentations, case studies, and handouts (digital and print).
- Pre- and Post-Training Assessment Tools: Develop surveys or quizzes to measure participants' knowledge before and after the training.
- Completion of Training Sessions: Facilitation of 8-day training program for 20 youth participants.
- Final Report: A comprehensive report detailing the training outcomes, participant feedback, and recommendations.
Competency profile:
- Proven experience in cybersecurity training, particularly for non-technical audiences.
- Experience in working with youth in vulnerable or underserved communities.
- Technical expertise in cybersecurity, digital safety, and online threat mitigation.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with experience in delivering interactive and engaging training.
- Ability to create easily understandable materials for participants with varying levels of digital literacy.
- Experience working in similar projects in Lebanon or other conflict/post-conflict environments is highly desirable.
