Call for partnership - Right to Play Lebanon

 

[Background]

Right To Play is a global organization, using the transformative power of play to educate and empower children and youth facing adversity. Through play-based learning and games, Right To Play helps over one million children learn through play to create better futures, while driving lasting social change in more than 20 countries each week. Founded in 2000 by social entrepreneur and four-time Olympic gold medalist Johann Olav Koss, Right To Play is headquartered in Toronto, Canada and has national fundraising offices in Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Country offices in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East regions.

In Lebanon, Right to Play was established in 2006 with programming covering North Lebanon, South Lebanon, Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and Bekaa. Right to Play’s programs are inclusive of all nationalities, backgrounds, and orientations, and is catered primarily for children and young people as well as caregivers, and adult teachers and facilitators. In 2023, Right to Play in Lebanon reached more than 24,000 children with child protection, education, and livelihood services all delivered with prominent focus on play, sports, and cultural/arts-based means.

[Purpose of the call]

Heading into 2025, Right to Play is seeking through this call to identify and establish partnerships with local and international non-governmental organizations to support in implementation of our Country Strategic Plan adapted to cover emergency response and recovery in Lebanon.

[Right to Play Lebanon strategy and emergency response]

The following are Right to Play’s programmatic strategic priorities for 2024 until end of 2025:

  1. Primary education: enhance the learning and social emotional skills of children by crisis through play-based teaching approaches

Example activities to fulfill this priority:

  • Capacity development of teachers and school leaders on play-based learning approaches
  • Provision of play-based reading activities for children with focus on social emotional skills
  • Equipping parents and caregivers with playful strategies to engage and support their children's learning and wellbeing and foster meaningful school relationships

 

  1. Psychosocial well-being: provide play-based psychosocial support to improve the holistic wellbeing of children and young people

Example activities to fulfill this priority:

  • Capacity development of non-specialized workers such as community facilitators and volunteers to provide play-based psychosocial support to children impacted by crisis
  • Deepening quality and generating evidence on the efficiency, effectiveness and relevance of PBL approaches in provision of PSS/SEL in Lebanon
  • Provision of play-based community-based psychosocial sessions such as sport and music for PSS
  1. Youth leadership: support young people to fulfill their potential and drive change at local and national levels

Example activities to fulfill this priority:

  • Utilizing playful and participatory approaches to involve young people in the design, delivery and monitoring of programs
  • Provision of vocational and job readiness training courses to out of school youth
  • Provision of arts-based interventions to adolescents and youth with focus on empowerment of young people to be social change and social stability agents

[Eligibility]

All organizations registered in the MoF and/or Ministry of Interior with focus on children are welcome to apply. The programs of applicant partners should cater at least for one of the programmatic priorities mentioned above.

N.B. This call is not tied to a particular funding opportunity or project and rather should be seen as a pre-qualifying process based on with RTP will select a number of organizations to further collaborate with and assess in more depth.

Document #1 - 1-pager cover letter including the below:

  • Organization background, mission, and vision
  • Interest as to why your organization wants to partner with RTP
  • Programmatic focus and unique expertise
  • Programmatic focus within which you want to work with RTP
