The roving clinical psychologist will be responsible for the provision of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services as well as providing psychological assessment and psychotherapy to I’m Possible clients consisting mainly of women and girls survivors of or at risk of gender-based violence (GBV) in the different program locations in Akkar. In addition, they will coordinate with other protection and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and holistic intervention.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation: Assess the needs of the clients on the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional levels.
- Use standardized assessment tools.
- Develop a recovery plan with clear objectives in relevance to the needs assessment with a logical and consistent timeframe that includes estimated dates for case evaluation, closure, and post-support check-up. The recovery plan must also be developed with the support of protection colleagues and complementary to the case management plan.
- Develop and deliver MHPSS awareness-raising sessions based on topics relevant to the community.
- Coordinate with the case worker and relevant protection staff to develop intervention plans, conduct regular follow-ups, and share relevant information.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions meetings.
- Provide MHPSS services in the different locations of the I’m Possible program.
- Monitor and evaluate the psychological progress of the patient.
- Maintain irreproachable levels of confidentiality.
- Complete intake assessments, evaluations, treatment recommendations, reviews, follow-up, and other documentation for each patient visit and as necessary in an organized and efficient manner.
- Support community health workers (CHWs) in community-based interventions to address specific MHPSS needs within the targeted communities.
- Ensure that emergency cases are properly managed, referred, and followed.
- Report regularly to I’m Possible management.

Essential skills:
- Ability to identify mental health priority conditions as per the mhGAP.
- Ability to develop a recovery plan with clear objectives.
- Skilled in at least one evidenced-based psychotherapy approach.
- Using different relaxation & stress management techniques.
- Experience providing clinical supervision or leading training is a plus.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to develop rapport with the patient.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Interviewing skills.
- Demonstrated cultural and gender sensitivity, non-discrimination, and readiness to work with men, women, and girls and boys from diverse backgrounds, particularly the most marginalized segments of the community.
- Ability to adhere to ethical and humanitarian considerations and principles regarding work with vulnerable populations.
- Candidate must be skilled in or willing to build their capacity and knowledge in:
- Developing family-centered, goal and strength focused, recovery-oriented recovery plan.
- MHPSS in complex emergencies (IASC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, mhGAP…)
- Biopsychosocial model in MHPSS.
- Community-based approach in MHPSS.
- Human rights-based approach MHPSS.
- Evidence-based approach in MHPSS (e.g., IPT, CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR).
The candidate must be trained from an accredited institution with a comprehensive training program. Workshops and 1-day training courses are not considered sufficient. - Knowledge about the predictable stresses of humanitarian aid work and the policies and practices needed to mitigate them.
- Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office and internet use.
Competency profile:
Education: MA in Clinical Psychology.
A completed clinical training/practicum in a university center consisting of at least 100 hours of training under supervision and 300 hours of applied training.
Having:
- Lebanese colloquium certificate for clinical psychologists.
- License to practice the clinical psychology profession from the Ministry of Public Health.
Experience: 2 to 5 years in similar position preferably with an I/LNGO and working with SGBV survivors.
