Who are we?
DRC has been responding to various humanitarian crises in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees. DRC received registration from the Ministry of Interior in 2011, and since then has focused primarily on responding to the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and the resulting impact on Lebanese host community. DRC Lebanon’s focus is to ensure that we are able to respond to critical emerging humanitarian needs whilst improve the living conditions of displacement-affected populations and contribute to the achievement of durable solutions. With an annual portfolio of $12million, and with approximately 200+ staff, DRC is focusing its response in protection and economic recovery (Ec-Rec) sector in Bekka, North Lebanon and Beirut. DRC is also contributing to the evidence base and coordination structures in country through our Evidence Generation and referral information management (RIMs) teams.
About the internship
The intern will become part of the Grants Unit and will support the Grants Coordinator in Fundraising & New Business Development as well as Grants Management Tasks. The intern will acquire project management, grants management, and proposal-writing skills after completion of the 6 months.
The tasks will include, but are not limited to:
1. Grants Management
- Support in reviewing, and proof-reading quarterly, interim and/or final reports to ensure donor requirements are met and quality and timely reports are submitted to the donor;
- Support Grants Coordinator in gathering supporting documents for audit reports;
- Support in amendments of ongoing grants;
- By the end of the internship, the Grants Intern will be able to lead on one Project Management Meeting (PMM);
- Create internal reporting templates if needed;
- Support the Grants Coordinator in ensuring that the grant calendar is being maintained (kick off meeting, Monthly Project Monitoring Meeting, and Closeout Meeting.
- Create Contract Summaries highlighting donor requirements on matters related to financial flexibility, reporting requirements, archiving rules,
2. Fundraising – New Business Development
- Type or migrate the minutes from donor meetings on the Donor Engagement and Tracking Plan
- Support with the context and situation analysis for project proposals.
3. Information Management
- Regular updating of dynamics.
- Ensure all files are updated and saved both on dynamics and the internal sharepoint documents.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to :
- Be fluent in English and Arabic.
- Have excellent written skills in English.
- Have time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, prioritization of tasks.
- Have good communication skills.
- Be people oriented.
- Have strong research, fact-checking, database, and analysis skills
- Commit to the values and code of conduct of the Danish Refugee Council
- Be able to work independently and proactively and handle challenges in a constructive and positive way.
- Be open-minded and flexible towards the different tasks assigned to you.
Preferred
- Ability to read and interpret financial documents;
- Knowledge in working in a non-governmental organization;

Your qualifications
Your field of study is not paramount, but it will most likely be within the interdisciplinary field of international Relations, Social Studies or any similar fields. To apply for the internship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have an interest in humanitarian assistance.
- Have completed a minimum of two years of higher education.
- Be fluent in spoken and written English.
- Can navigate in a challenging environment and handle a wide range of complex tasks.
- It is a requirement that you are enrolled in a university or have completed relevant academic programs or courses related to the field of the internship within the last three years to be considered for the internship.
We offer
- Contract length: 6 months subject to study requirements and further dialogue
- Workplace: Lebanon, Beirut, Achrafieh, Sassine
- Start date: June 2024
- Working hours: Maximum 40 hours per week, subject to study requirements and further dialogue. We offer flexibility when you have study obligations next to the internship.
The internship is not paid but we offer:
- Daily transportation and food allowance for each active workday.
