ABOUT THE STRUCTURE…

Solidarités International (SI) is an International NGO working with vulnerable populations, mainly victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters. Specialized for nearly 40 years in the coverage of vital needs, S.I. takes charge of emergency and reconstruction programs.

ABOUT THE JOB

General objective:

Under the direct supervision of the Wash services Team Leader, the Field Officer-Wash services is responsible for follow-up on water trucking and desludging activities in sites of refugees in ensuring that they have access to safe and clean water and sanitation facilities. The incumbent will be based in the North.

The main challenges:

Understanding the organization’s processes and procedures and learning about the services offered to beneficiaries.

Coordinate with multiple departments to ensure that the sites are receiving enough quantities of water per person per day.

Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

Follow up on Quality of water delivered and ensure safe discharge.

Develop close collaboration with different department inside SI.

Responsibilities and main activities:

Roles & responsibilities:

Conduct field visits to collect data on the water and sanitation situation.

Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps and prioritize interventions related to water and sanitation in the sites.

Develop action plans that outline the interventions needed to address the gaps identified.

Conduct regular quality and quantity checks on the water trucking and desludging services provided by the suppliers to ensure that they meet the required standards and adhere to the requirements for quantities following the schedules. This may involve checking the water quality, the volume of water delivered, the actual volume of trucks, and the effectiveness of the desludging process (volume of sludge removal and safe discharge in the Wastewater treatment plant “WWTP”).

Maintain responsibility for services provision by conducting daily follow-ups, signing necessary follow-up paperwork, and assessing needs.

Monitor the compliance of the suppliers with the contractual agreements, including the quality standards, delivery schedules, and reporting requirements.

Monitor the implementation of the action plan to ensure that the interventions are carried out as planned and that the desired outcomes are achieved.

Document the assessment findings, action plans, and progress made towards achieving the desired outcomes.

Ensure that the data is stored securely and confidentially, and that data protection and privacy policies are adhered to.

Mobilize the beneficiaries to take individual/collective responsibility for the hygiene, water, and sanitation activities.

Reporting & Communication

Address any complaints and grievances related to the water trucking and desludging services provided by the suppliers.

Prepare regular reports on the water trucking and desludging activities in the sites.

Communicate with different internal and external stakeholders. This may involve conducting meetings, workshops, or focus group discussions to gather feedback and input.

Provide regular updates to management on the progress of the water trucking and desludging activities in the field.

Act as a liaison with the local population and authorities to identify the needs, grievances and major events that could have potential consequences for Solidarites International activities.

YOUR PROFILE

Education and experience

A degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field

1 to 2 years of relevant experience in WASH programming, preferably with an NGO.

Work experience with local communities, children, and vulnerable people

Knowledge of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programming, including technical standards, guidelines, and best practices.

Familiarity with the Lebanese context, including the political, social, and economic landscape.

Transferable skills

Good prioritization and organization skills.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Proactivity, flexibility, pragmatism, solutions-oriented mindset.

Capacity to work under pressure, solve problems, and decide quickly on contingency actions.

Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including community members, suppliers, and other NGOs.
