THE PROJECT

The Kunu Antou project was launched in 2019 to offer quality education services to the most vulnerable children living in the vicinity of the Amel center in Haret Hreik with the implementation of the following outputs:

  • The learning performances of 150 vulnerable girls and boys at risk of school dropout are improved;
  • The environment of 150 vulnerable girls and boys is more conducive to learning and supportive for girls’ education;
  • Engage the community in the promotion of an equal access to education for all.

Through the completion of these objectives, the project aims empower the most vulnerable children in their learning journey through their successful school retention. With the support of a larger group of community members (children, youths, adults), the Kunu Antou team will have a positive impact on the whole community and strengthen the right to quality education for all, with a particular focus on girls’ access to education.

 

ASSIGNMENT

The Social worker is based in Amel’s Haret Hreik community center. She/He works under the direct supervision of the Head of Center, the management team based in the Headquarter. She/He is in charge of the overall response to the psychosocial needs of the most vulnerable refugee populations living in the Haret Hreik community. 

TASKS

Task #1 – Outreach & Retention activities

  • Outreach beneficiaries for the projects’ activities. The social worker has a direct communication with the families and explains in details the goal, activities and requirements for their participation in the project;
  • Follow up on the children’s participation in the projects’ activities. If a child is absent for more than two consecutive sessions, the Social Worker is following up directly with the caregivers;
  • Encourage the retention support of the participants in the activities while addressing the reasons of drop out with a clear and adapted action plan. The social worker builds a collective response to increase attendance with all the Kunu Antou team members;
  • Share the children’s achievements with their parents in order to increase motivation and build trustful relationship with the community members.

Task #2– Cases identification activities

  • Establish a simple internal referral form for all team members in collaboration with the psychologist, clarify the process with all team members and follow up on the implementation of the internal referral pathways;
  • Observe on a regular basis the project’s activity to identify cases in collaboration with the psychologist;
  • Identify through focus group discussions the protection needs of the community members.

Task #3– Referral activities

  • Ensure smooth follow up for internal referrals
  • Follow up on cases referred internally by the team members and to other services provided by Amel;
  • Provide the team members with necessary information about the case’s follow up to adapt their practices if necessary.
  • Ensure smooth external referral pathways
  • Develop Amel’s network in the area to increase opportunities for external referrals with the support of the coordinators;
  • Assist the psychologist to create a local mapping of the service providers in the area;
  • Ensure smooth referral process with external actors (provision of information, follow up with beneficiaries, etc.).

Task #4 – Psycho-social counseling

  • Being responsible for designing a monthly plan with the Kunu Antou team members to provide psychosocial activities;
  • Conduct weekly awareness sessions with children and community members in collaboration with the psychologist according to the monthly plan;
  • Conduct weekly focus group discussions to address specific issues with children and community members according to the monthly plan.

Task #5 –Parents and children’s Committees, initiatives and campaigns

  • Being closely involved in the design of the Training of Trainers for the implementation community event activities;
  • Encourage the parents to participate actively in the parents’ committee. The committee will be strongly involved in the design of the activities (ex: events) of the project;

  • Taking the lead on the coordination of the children led-initiatives;
  • Being in charge of supervising the implementation of large-scale awareness raising campaigns, in close coordination with the GBV program team.

Task #6 – Coordination & Monitoring and Evaluation

Facilitate the internal coordination

  • Kunu Antou team’s level: coordinate with all team members to ensure that the Child Protection Protocol is followed and that the PSS monthly plan is shared and completed;
  • Centers’ level: coordinate with centers’ staff (Health, Protection, etc.) to refer cases / to improve internal practices (experience sharing);
  • Programs’ level: collaborate on a regular basis with Amel’s colleagues from other programs, especially with the GBV and the Child Protection teams.

Monitoring & Evaluation / reporting

  • Contribute to the data collection in close collaboration with the coordinators;
  • Submit weekly reports to the coordinators;
  • Design assessment for evaluating to the project’s impact (ex: wellbeing) in coordination with Child Protection team;
  • Submit other narrative reports such as Focus Group Discussion’s results / community events’ reports / distributions’ reports, etc.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master degree in Social Sciences, Social work, Psychology or another relevant field.
  • Strong background and experience in the Education & Gender Based Violence field including review of materials, development of trainings content;
  • Strong organizational, management and supervisory experience that demonstrates positive capacity- and team-building approach with excellent reporting & writing skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within multi-cultural environments; ability to work within a team structure or independently, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources.
