RFP BEY 110302 - Intent to bid - Contract Farming and linkages Service Provider

Mercy Corps is seeking to contract  a service provider specialized in agricultural business development to create linkages between farmers and agro-food processors through the development of Contract Farming Agreements specifically. This is to strengthen the linkages between these two market actors and therefore improve access to the quantity of the products needed with the required quality standards.  Furthermore, the consultant must provide creative and adaptive implementation tools to the size of the SME, knowing that some of the SMEs might not have a strategic plan, list of contacts, contract template or legal understanding). The service provider must have soft skills (communication and negotiation skills) and connections to potential farmers. Number and scale of farmers contracted might vary between the SMEs depending on identified needs. The service provider is requested to set up and close deals between farmers and SMEs whereby MC will closely follow up with the consultant to evaluate and keep track of the consultancy outcome. Market linkages for the service is linking the business to local agricultural supply especially farmers in the reasonable proximity, quality standards, and quantity required by the SME. Linked farmers are preferred to originate from Akkar or Bekaa region.
