Animated Storytelling - A Training Program for Creatives in Lebanon

This program aims to provide participants with the space, mentorship, and technical know-how needed in order to create their own animated productions and increase their chances of securing jobs in the field.

The goal is to establish a local community of animation artists with the skills to create and produce animated films, videos, cartoons, and others.

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in partnership with Happinest implement this project as part of the Global Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI).

Job Description:

The financial consultant plans and manages the overall financial flows and resources of Happinest and keeps all accounting records, monitoring, and budgeting to oversee to the organization's financial viability.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all payments are made in a timely manner
  2. Ensure that payment documents comply with donor regulations
  3. Ensure all financial expenditures are entered into systems in time and of highest quality.
  4. Update cashbooks daily to reflect the actual status of existing cash count and bank balance in all currencies.
  5. Manages books, invoices, income, expenses and funds for the projects in different bookkeeping systems.
  6. Checks purchase invoices, verifies signatures; and books them.
  7. Ensure all bank account statements are reconciled monthly
  8. Ensure proper filing system for financial documents
  9. Weekly and monthly cash count.
  10. Assist with the implementation of program cost
  11. Assist in issuing donor reports by reviewing the financial transaction on a monthly basis and identify rebooking when is needed.
  12. Contribute to the preparation of the periodic financial reports to donors, and monthly financial reports to project managers and director.
  13. Support the development of new proposals with financial information for budgeting.
  14. Monitor the expenditure to ensure that program funds are utilized appropriately by the close of the fiscal year.

Required qualifications, experience, and skills:

  • BA in finance, accounting, or any related field. Master’s is a plus.
  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience in the field, preferably in a senior position.
  • Accuracy and flexibility
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Effective time management, ability to plan workloads and demonstrate accountability for outputs
  • Demonstrable experience of project financial reporting including to donors
  • Professional knowledge of the methods of financial analysis and the methodology for the preparation of budgets
  • Professional knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures of the Central Bank
  • Professional Experience in the use of Financials Systems/Software
  • Excellent reporting skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, timemanagement, and data entry management
  • Fluency in English and Arabic both oral and written.
