Background:

MENA Rosa is a network of Women Living with HIV (WLHIV) working in 10 countries of the MENA region, with the main objective of providing an independent niche for Women in all Their Diversity (WiTD) to bring up their concerns, be it psycho-social, educational, gender issue, marriage, sexual, raising and disclosing to children, etc. 

Many studies have reported various incidents where WLHIV are denied care (irrespective of the gravity of their health conditions); and experience Stigma and Discrimination (S&D), and violations of confidentiality, particularly from Health Care Providers. Many are pressured to either hide their HIV status in order to receive care or disregard their medical needs.

Accordingly, under the ViiV Healthcare grant, MENA Rosa would like to raise awareness on HIV and S&D in Health Care Settings, and conduct a series of evidence-based sessions, targeting Health Care Providers (i.e. nurses and midwives), as well as representatives of the community of WLHIV in Tunisia.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a series of meetings (one-to-one meetings), in collaboration with MENA Rosa’s Focal Points, targeting Health Care Authorities to introduce the project and mobilize participants,
  • draft the agenda of the awareness sessions,
  • identify and invite the participants,
  • coordinate with the national Focal Points, as well as CSO local partners,
  • coordinate with guest speakers,
  • facilitate the sessions in three cities in Tunisia (Tunis, Sfax, Monastir),
  • develop advocacy key messages to be used on social media, and
  • develop a report highlighting the findings and recommendations.

Deliverables:

  • Detailed agenda of the awareness sessions; and
  • final report detailing the discussion, challenges and most importantly highlighting the participants’ recommendations.

Profile and Qualifications:

  • Very knowledgeable in the HIV field.
  • Demonstrable and relevant facilitation experience.
  • Experienced in drafting and report writing.
  • Well-informed of the national context with previous experiences working in Tunisia.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent spoken communication skills in French and Arabic.
