Project Overview

During the past years, the relation between party and citizen was usually negotiated in the language of clientelistic/sectarian politics. Citizen’s expectations are usually limited to personal access to state employment or favors. This project indicates that engaging in the electoral process is still notably clientelistically male oriented and entails women to overcome great challenges to succeed. The feeble rate of female representation reflects the immense hurdles women face in the political sphere. The goal of the project is to prioritize women’s engagement in political life by voicing out against challenges, and therefore push for women issues to be integrated within parties’ agendas and nomination process by normalizing gender discourse in politics before elections.
