TITLE:  Communication Officer (Female)

BASED IN:  Lebanon – Bekaa

REPORTING TO:  Communication Coordinator

CONTRACT TYPE: Part time; 5 Months contract (2-month probationary period), with possibility of extension

START DATE: as soon as possible in August 2021

BACKGROUND:

Women Now for Development is a feminist, women-lead non-governmental organization dedicated to deepening and strengthening women’s role in Syria and neiborigning countries by enhancing their social, economic and cultural participation. Women Now was established in June 2012 by in response to the conflict in Syria and ensuing humanitarian crisis.  Today, we implement programmes in four Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS): two in Syria, Syria and two in Bekaa, Lebanon, reaching thousands of beneficiaries annually in addition to different project.   We work in four integrated programmatic areas: 

• Protection - Psychosocial support,
• Empowerment - Education and Vocational Skills training,
• Participation - Leadership training and Rights Awareness
• Advocacy and Campaigning - at the local and international level. 

In addition to Research and feminist knowledge production At Women Now we work from the ground up, to empower ourselves, and the community around us in order to bring about significant, long-term change.

Responsibilities and Main Activities:

- Creating written and illustrated content about the activities of Women Now in Lebanon in both Arabic and English (including “writing articles - taking pictures - ...)

- Managing the media team within the campaigns in the Bekaa Valley

- Managing the social media sites that is related to the campaigns

- Create written and illustrated content for the campaigns in both Arabic and English

- Develop a strategy for publishing and reaching campaigns

- Communicate with the appropriate media and research bodies to introduce and publish the campaigns

- Creating bridges of communication with organizations and movements that work on similar issues locally and globally

- Coordination and follow-up of media products for campaigns (videos - articles)

Education Degree and Experience:

- University degree in media, journalism, or equivalent

- At least three years’ work experience in a similar or related job title

- Experience in writing articles and conducting interviews in both Arabic and English

- Good experience in managing and publishing on social media sites in both Arabic and English

Skills and Abilities:

- Good knowledge of the Syrian-Lebanese context in the Bekaa Valley

- High feminist knowledge

- Ability to analyze data and information

- Proficiency in working on Microsoft Office Programs related to work

- Coordination and problem-solving skills

- Effective communication skills

- Good team management skills
