1.GENERAL OBJECTIVE

Under the direct and technical supervision of the Protection Specialist, the Capacity Building Advisor is in charge of preparing and delivering training at the base level and mission level, abiding by the quality standards of PU-AMI. The Capacity Building Advisor makes sure to follow the Standard Operation of PU-AMI for each program and each implementation.

The Capacity Building Advisor position’s major objectives are to properly achieve the following global tasks:

 

  • Build the capacity of PU-AMI and partner staff on protection, gender, and inclusion topics;
  • Support the Protection Specialist and Protection Coordinator in identifying the capacity building needs and gaps for PU-AMI staff;
  • Prepare training packages in English and Arabic, adapted to in-person and remote modalities;
  • Provide full reports on the outcome of the implemented training.

 

2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES AND LINKED ACTIVITIES

  1. Training PREPARATION
  • Contribute to the development of a clear methodology for training’ preparation, including standardized templates, training SOPs, checklists, etc.;
  • Develop content and tools for capacity building sessions (i.e. training plan, training description, training agenda, pre & post-tests, activities, attendance sheets, training evaluation, etc.) on the identified topics, in coordination with PU-AMI teams (protection and health notably);
  • Adapt existing and future training packages in English and Arabic;
  • Adapt existing and future training packages for in-person and remote modalities;
  • Propose alternative and creative training modalities, adapted to the context and the audience;
  • Liaise with relevant departments (HR, Finances, Logistics) to properly plan each training.

    2.CAPACITY BUILDING AND TRAINING IMPLEMENTATION

  • Contribute to the identification of training needs of staff (i.e. protection staff, other staff, volunteers, etc.) and raise them to Line Manager and Project managers
  • Plan and prepare for training implementation on different topics (i.e. protection, gender, and inclusion)while taking into consideration the learning cycle of adult learners of different background (i.e. protection, health, shelter, other sectors) and roles (i.e. PU-AMI staff, partner staff, volunteers, key community members, etc);
  • Facilitate training on different topics such as protection, gender, and inclusion while making sure to create a positive and safe learning environment for different types of learners;
  • Enhance the capacity of PU-AMI and partner staff on several topics such as communication, teamwork, time management, negotiation, problem-solving;
  • Contribute to the identification of needs for capacity-building actions through needs assessment and analysis for PUI staff, partner staff, and other stakeholders (e.g: local authorities);
  • Assist in the design and implementation of workshops and capacity building sessions;
  • Identify key staff to co-facilitate training or support some sessions, provide them with facilitation tips and technics.

       3.REPORTING

  • Provide full reports on the training outcome, staff capacity, and additional training needs (e.i. training evaluation reports), including analysis from pre & post-test and training evaluation;
  • Be in charge of providing participants’ attendance sheets to the HR Department, Protection Specialist, and Line Manager(s) of concerned personnel.

    4.ACCOUNTABILITY

  • In coordination with the HR department, contribute to making sure that PU-AMI’s Protection against Sexual and Exploitation Abuse (PSEA) policy is understood and respected by all involved staff and for all activities.

 

The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are non-exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project’s needs.

 

 

Mandatory requirements

Language skills: Fluent in Arabic and English;

Education degree: University degree in social work, community development, or another relevant degree;

Work experience: Minimum 3 years experience in protection with a humanitarian organization, including at least 2  years of experience in implementing training;

Computer skills: Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Zoom, Webex, Go To Meeting, and other relevant platforms;

Others:

  • Good knowledge in protection and social related topics;
  • Excellent communication and listening skills;
  • Effective stress management;
  • Ability to work under pressure and with short deadlines;
  • Good problem-solving skills;
  • Good knowledge of the humanitarian context in Lebanon;
  • Excellent ability to work in a team;
  • A valid driving license is an asset.
