Under the direct supervision of the PSS program Manager, the Social Worker will be in charge of screening, identifying and following up on PSS and CP cases in schools/ centers. S/he will support teachers in identifying, assessing and following up on all PSS and CP identified needs/case on site; ensure that Protection and PSS principles are understood, maintained and enforced; identify families and learners’ problems and difficulties and support them; elaborate, follow and evaluate the social project with the concerned families/ learners.
Duties and responsibilities
The Social Worker will perform frequent field visits to schools/centers.
The tasks and responsibilities can evolve depending on the project’s needs.
► Identification of the most vulnerable people in need
- Support field teams during field visits in order to identify cases, understand the environment and apply follow up.
- Ensure case assessment including environmental, emotional, behavioral, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the child and their family’s well- being;
► Assessment and follow-up of learners to ensure social support
- Assess the needs of the learners and their families giving particular attention to protection and psycho social concerns
- Listen with respect and attention to the beneficiaries
- Establish a file for each family to note the family situation, plan of intervention, follow up and updates
- Promote the development and empowerment of teachers by providing social support to facilitate integration and adaptation.
- Monitor and follow up the outcome of the assistance provided
► Reporting
- Provide weekly and monthly activity reports to the Project Manager.
- Cultivates and facilitates contact with local organizations related to the position, in close collaboration with the Project Director.
- Elaborates an action plan resulting from a needs assessment.
► Priorities of the program
- Provide the needed support and basic counselling to cases with PSS concerns
- Manage referrals and follow ups for protection cases
- Work with children with specific problems until reaching a solution
- Keep an updated referral pathway for cases.
Qualifications
- Fluent in English and good command of Arabic (speaking, reading, writing).
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of working with children.
- Experience in working with refugees is a plus.
- Ability to communicate and to listen
