Research Fellow

The post is part of a RCUK funded project “RESEARCH FOR HEALTH IN CONFLICT (R4HC-MENA)”. The project will be carried out in collaboration with King’s College London (KCL) in addition to local and regional partners. The overall purpose of the job is (1) to build research capability in conflict-affected areas focusing on political economy of health and cancer, through needs assessments and co-development of courses and expertise bridging both academic, NGO and government sectors at KCL and AUB in collaboration with local and regional partners; (2) to conduct research for development and generate evidence to inform policy-makers  as well as development and building research capacity; and (3) to build partnerships to achieve development goals and long term sustainability in both UK, Lebanon, and the MENA region. 

The recruited person will work closely together, with the Co-Investigators (Co-Is) and the Project Coordinator to meet the project objectives, that will entail:

• Planning with the Co-Investigators and the Research Coordinator the research design, methods, work schedules, and deliverables
• Carrying out the plans discussed with the Co-Is and Research Coordinator, including the planning, execution, data collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of research,  course development, delivery, and other activities
• Carrying out the research tasks specified in a timely and effective manner
• Managing their own research and administrative activities
• Identifying potential problems and bringing them to the attention of the Co-Is and Research Coordinator for discussion
• Being able to act independently to take forward assigned projects
• Being responsible for providing research data and results upon request
• Assisting in ensuring the overall requirements of the research project are met
• Contributing to manuscript writing for publication and dissemination of results
