Research Objectives: How does music training and advocacy through art, affect self-regulation and conflict resolution in participating adolescents?

Research Methodology An empirical research of a longitudinal design with control groups, using observation, quantitative and qualitative methods.

-Research Objectives This study aims at building evidence on the effect of music training and advocacy through art, on adolescents’ self-regulation (consisting of self-control, empathy, and creativity) and conflict resolution? The suggested research objective is to be revised and updated based on the anticipated desk review.

- Methodology and scope While 2 evaluation studies were conducted along the course of the program, using quantitative and qualitative methods with no control groups; this study aims at building evidence from an empirical research using a longitudinal design with control groups, where observation methods besides quantitative/qualitative are used. The sample size should be representative to the overall targeted population that is 400 adolescents. Noting that adolescents were involved in the program at different periods of time. The research is expected to take place in parallel to the implementation of the project. And data collection tools are expected to be play-based, and adapted to the age group of adolescents involved. Anticipated number of working days for the consultancy is 40-50 days.

• Develop the research plan (design, methodology and tools). April 30, 2021

• Hire and train a data collection team. May 5, 2021

• Collect and analyse data December 1, 2021

• Conduct a validation workshop December 10, 2021

• Finalize the research December 31, 2021
