ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a passionate, organized, and enthusiastic fundraiser to plan and execute a fundraising and communications strategy for Boukra. This is a new role within Boukra and the job holder will work in close cooperation with the founders.

You will play a key role within the organisation, working closely with the whole team to manage, develop and secure new sources of funding to deliver our projects. You will promote our mission and programs to the general public and build awareness of the organisation as a whole. You will communicate the impact and significance of our projects to funders and key stakeholders through a variety of media.

The work will be mainly home-based, with attendance of regular meetings and events (mostly in Beirut) and occasional visits to our community center in Mtein (more frequent during summer).

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising

  • Develop an annual fundraising and communications strategy in close cooperation with the founders
  • Research and identify potential donors and funders
  • Create and submit compelling funding applications and deliver strong presentations to potential funders
  • Build and manage excellent relationships and communications with key contacts in local and international funders and other stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate funder and donor records
  • Ensure smooth communication between Boukra and donors. Share briefs on supported projects on a regular basis
  • Help plan fundraising events and liaise with event partners and sponsors to maximise fundraising opportunities

 

Communications

  •  Manage all social media channels, platforms and websites related to Boukra
  •       Develop relevant and innovative content for publication (posts, texts, photos, videos)
  •    Design and run social media campaigns including defining strategy and metrics, developing content, reaching out to social media influencers, and reporting on outcomes
  •       Maintain a database of photos, case studies and research/evidence to promote our work
  • Build networks and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders including community groups, municipalities, and corporate actors
  • All media and messaging activity including crafting PR and media messages
  • Occasionally represent Boukra at relevant speaking events, promotion opportunities, or internal/external events

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Experience

  • Master’s Degree in social sciences or relevant discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience in fundraising, with proof of having raised long-term funding from a broad range of sources including corporate, local and international donors
  • Experience in social media communications as well as media liaison
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector is an asset
  • An understanding of marketing is an asset 

Skills / Competencies

  • Excellent written communication skills in English and Arabic with the ability to produce concise and creative content
  • Excellent oral communication skills in English and Arabic, with strong presentation and persuasion skills
  • Knowledge of French is an asset
  • Ability to build networks and strategic alliances and maintain relationships with key donors and other partners
  • Strong social media and digital strategy skills
  • Strong organisational skills with experience of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to the vision, mission, goals and values of Boukra
  • A ‘hands on’ approach and ‘can do’ attitude. We are a small team which often requires all hands on deck across all areas of our work. A positive approach to work with a commitment to working within a small team is critical.
