Position Summary

Search is seeking qualified candidates for a Conflict Analysis Consultant position to support in community-level conflict analysis  of one of our key programs. The project will support local community leaders and civil society organizations in addressing relevant local needs in a sensitive manner, through a series of training and dialogue activities, and small grants. These activities are part of the implementation of a 10-month project aiming to empower local leaders and civil society actors to lead peacebuilding and conflict transformation and work  on strengthening their role in meeting local needs in a comprehensive method and constructive approach to prevent violent escalation of tensions. The Conflict Analysis Consultant will support the local leaders to carry out community-level conflict analysis to identify and prioritise key conflicts in their communities.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support local leaders from four different areas to carry out community-level conflict analysis to identify and prioritise key conflicts in their communities;
  • Lead to the compilation of priority community conflict drivers, taking into account different gender needs;
  • Use Search’s Conflict Scan Tool, while supporting the local leaders in conducting the Conflict Analysis in their districts;
  • Hold intensive meetings with the local leaders to coordinate with them on a work plan so they can perform a context analysis of their respective areas;
  • Coordinate with the conflict analysis trainer to know the conflict analysis tools that were used and how they were used;
  • Guide and assist the local leaders to implement the conflict mapping, dividers, and connectors between the different conflict parties;
  • Assist the local leaders in analysing the needs of each area, and recommending interventions to implement small initiatives in response to those needs;
  • Include gender and conflict sensitivity within the activities, deliverables, and analyses; and
  • Deliver the finalised four conflict analysis in Arabic and English and submit back to the project team.

 

Required Profile:

Education

University Degree in social science, conflict management, sociology, political science or peacebuilding, or any other related field. MA is a plus.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in conducting conflict analysis exercises;
  • Proven knowledge and experience in peacebuilding, conflict mediation, conflict prevention mechanisms, and gender and conflict sensitivity;
  • Experience in conflict analysis and use of conflict analysis tools
  • Qualitative and quantitative research skills and experience
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills;
  • Strong knowledge and experience of the MENA region context;
  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention-to-detail.
  • Experience in online communication.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously; and
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new working environments, to establish and maintain good working relations with individuals of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
