PURPOSE

We are looking for a creative, out-of-the-box thinker to develop and manage the ICRC's digital identity for Lebanon. This person will work with an ace communication team to develop the digital editorial line and manage the digital channels from content writing and production to digital engagement. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, be audience-oriented in their thinking and have a creative bent for pitching innovative stories.

CONTEXT

Digital Officer works to enhance the digital reputation and positioning of the ICRC, furthering the goals and objectives of the ICRC’s digital strategy. S/he drives the ICRC's efforts to connect with relevant audiences through digital content in different channels.

Professional Experience required

University diploma

Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in the field of communication 

Good writing skills in English and Arabic

Fluency in English and Arabic languages

Good content visualization and storytelling skills

Strong social media and digital strategy skills

Good audio-visual production skills

Graphic design an asset

Good relationships with agencies and production houses an asset

RELATIONSHIPS

• Interacts with COMs teams throughout the ICRC and a range of non-COMs colleagues to provide guidance.
• Interacts with media, followers, digital agencies and key audiences.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional Responsibilities:

Ensures accurate, timely and effective delivery of digital content, optimized for search and audience engagement, partnering with audio-visual producers, social media leads, web editors and digital officers primarily at headquarters and in the regional communication centres.

Develops digital products for official social media accounts and the website, engaging with and delivering content to audiences i.e. posts and tweets, threads, gifs and videos, with a clearly developed narrative and tone of voice.

Writes creative concept notes and scripts for social media and digital products and holds brainstorming sessions with relevant colleagues for campaigns.

Designs and runs complex social media campaigns including supporting Regional and International ICRC campaigns– defining strategy and metrics, developing content, reaching out to social media influencers, and reporting on outcomes.

Uses a variety of analytics tools (e.g. Facebook Business Manager, Sprinklr, Social Bakers) to identify and understand social media audiences and behavioral trends.

Produces social media reports on the growth and audience of their accounts and how content is performing – and makes strategic recommendations based on results and implements them (working with heads of communication to define key measurable metrics for all accounts).

Provides in-depth social media guidance on setting up a strategy, managing and mitigating risks, growing an engaged community, influencing audiences and effecting behavioral change.

Coordinates with our Regional Communication Centre in Cairo and digital marketers on ad buys to ensure positioning of the ICRC on key contexts, themes and issues.

Promotes digital literacy within the organization through trainings and workshops for colleagues including senior staff.

Digital Content Planning & Production – leading role

In agreement with the Communication Coordinator, develops the digital strategy in line with the delegation’s objectives and operational priorities.

Leads the planning of content for the Delegation´s online and social media platforms to shed light on the humanitarian situation in Lebanon and ICRC´s activities.

Scouts for stories from the field and produces innovative content (videos, photos, text) for ICRC digital channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram notably) in English and Arabic.

Leads and/or supports the production of audiovisual material and visual content (infographics; timelines, etc.) for social media platforms.

Works hand in hand with the Communication Coordinator to generate digital content to be pitched to key media.

Social Media Management – leading role

Contributes and develops the social media mapping of the delegation, with a view to increase the delegation’s understanding of the social media landscape in Lebanon and in the region; provides regular and ad hoc reports/analyses.

Manages the Delegation´s online platforms: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Contributes content to the ICRC Lebanon webpage in coordination with Regional Communication Center in Cairo.

Ensures proper and continuous interaction with social media users in collaboration with the field communication officers.

Constantly analyzes and stays on top of latest trends for social media, digital journalism and storytelling.

Networking and Pitching – leading role

Identifies and networks with key social media influencers and increases ICRC’s audience circles online.

Develops ad-hoc content to be shared/pitched to digital platforms.

Monitoring and Evaluation – leading role

Conducts ongoing evaluation of the success of digital content initiatives after publication and prepares regular reports and statistics on social media activities and their impact (achievements)

Carries out environment scanning / media monitoring on social media
 
Public Communications activities – supporting role

Supports Communication Coordinator and Spokesperson with preparing documents for the delegation i.e. key messages, statements/press releases, speeches

Contributes to promoting the due use and distribution of ICRC communication products and assessing their relevance and impact on the delegation's audiences.

Keeps the Team Space carrousel updated with the latest COM content.

Supports the communication team in event management and promotion.

Supports the communication team in developing communication strategies.

Supports the Op-Com/CE officer with digital community engagement
 
Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement – supporting role

Contributes to identifying needs, ensures adequate support to and regular coordination with the Lebanese Red Cross communication department in the field of social media/online communication, in close coordination with the Public Communication Officer

Contributes to joint public communication activities whenever needed

Ensures adequate coordination/sharing of information with other Movement partners (National Societies present in Lebanon, Federation) in the field of social media/online communication
