Context & Background

 

Berytech is a leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Eco-system in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking and company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and hi-level skills in Lebanon.

 

The Agrytech Program is a is an agri-food innovation hub that is co-funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Berytech Foundation in Lebanon. Agrytech is a three-pillared program that includes an Accelerator Program, a Cluster, and a resource platform. Agrytech's Accelerator Program sources the most disruptive ideas in the Agri-Food sector and provides them with the technical, business, and individual growth needed to convert these ideas into sustainable and successful startups with a global impact.

 

The Accelerator Program's mission is to nurture and grow disruptive ideas, proof of concepts, and prototypes that share three common characteristics:

  1. A disruptive scientific or technological focus in the agri-food sector.
  2. The possibility to scale beyond the local market
  3. The potential to create sustainable job opportunities locally

Phase I is a two-month validation program. The program focuses on validating ideas and prototypes with stakeholders and industry experts before developing a minimum viable product.

 

Scope of work

 

The Accelerator Program seeks an external Certified Sprint Masters to conduct a 5-day Google Design Sprint for 25 idea-stage startups. The participants joining the program are co-founders of idea-stage startups, and startup teams range between 2 – 7 co-founders. The 5-day Sprint

allows entrepreneurs to validate the problem they’re working on solving, prototype a solution for the problem, and test the solution with stakeholders identified as early adopters.

 

Google Design Sprints are based on Jake Knapp’s best-selling book – Sprint.  Below is a suggested structure – Sprint Masters may deliver a proposal with amendments to the below; subject to the revision and approval of the Agrytech Team.

 

Day 1 – Education on What Design Sprints are, Problem Framing

  • Introduction
  • Discussion of expectations by the end of the week
  • Business Model Canvas workshop
  • Personas
  • Defining and prioritizing problem statements
  • Creating a strategy to recruit users for the final day

Day 2 – Design Sprint

  • Understanding the business challenge
  • Long term Goal & Sprint Questions
  • Customer Journey Mapping
  • HMW
  • Pick a target
  • Start recruiting users

Day 3 – Design Sprint

  • Lightning Demos
  • Ideating
  • Deciding
  • Storyboarding

Day 4 – Design Sprint

  • Prototyping
  • Scripting Customer Interviews
  • Confirming user tests for Day 5

Day 5 – Design Sprint

  • User Interviews (7)
  • Results aggregation
  • Conclusions and Next Steps, Roadmap to MVP

  • Feedback on teams and their progress throughout the 5 days

 

Qualifications

 

  • Certified Design Sprint Master
  • Experience with delivering at least 10 design sprints across multiple territories
  • Demonstratable ability to run online design sprints
  • Demonstratable ability to use Zoom, Mural & Slack
  • Experience working with early stage startups
