SHiFT is a social innovation hub leading the transformation of post-conflict and/or marginalized zones towards peaceful and prosperous communities. SHiFT has a community-center on one of the former frontlines in Tripoli. The center currently provides a neutral space where people can meet and mobilize over shared causes, use incubation services or attend one of SHiFT’s training programs, and try to deal with the unsettled past. Our main programs are: Tasaloh (Reconciliation) program; Tatweer (Development) program; and Tamteen (Empowerment) program.

The Psychologist will be responsible for ensuring that Shift delivers technically thorough protection programming, with a focus on community-level mechanisms. 

H/She will be responsible for ensuring that key organizational principles and approaches are well integrated throughout the project cycle, as well as develop strategic partnerships with governmental institutions, civil society organizations, and relevant private institutions. H/She will also be responsible for ensuring that lessons derived through implementation of projects are well articulated, documented, and disseminated both internally and externally and fed into strategic development of the overall Protection Portfolio. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Identified vulnerable cases are provided with direct psychosocial support and internal and external referral as needed, accordingly to a beneficiary/survivor-centered approach and based on guiding principles

Assist the team  in the detection of most vulnerable cases.

Provide a clinical assessment on identified cases of persons at risk and survivors of SGBV.

The Psychologist will open individual files for survivors, monitor the service provision, and ensure that cases under assistance receive all the care and support needed.

Provide identified women at risk, girls, men and boys, both refugee and host community survivors, or at risk of SGBV, with emotional support, ad hoc immediate assistance.

The psychologist will provide beneficiary/survivor access to immediate, safe and multi-sectoral services through referral, psychosocial support, and quality case management for identified cases of SGBV and Protection: the Psychologist ensures a timely referral to most appropriate services available (medical care, mental health, and psychosocial support, legal counseling and assistance, safe shelter, education and livelihood opportunities) according to the needs and established SOPs.

Receive referrals from Shift team/through the hotline and provide referred cases with the needed follow up where appropriate and follow up at community level according to the project plan.

Build a network with actors in the area of intervention to refer cases based on their needs to case management units or various types of therapy (speech therapy, psychomotor therapy, etc.)

Monitor the psychological progress of the program participants and review cases weekly with the protection staff and coordinator.

Participate in weekly meetings with the project team, monthly team meetings with the organization’s staff, and any relevant training workshops, discussions, or activities.

Report on weekly/ monthly progress to the protection advisor.

Support in data collection, documentation, and tracking of sessions, daily reports from the Project Officers and referred cases.

Support project team in registration activities and M&E activities.

Take part in community outreach activities to encourage individuals to participate in the program.

Evaluate the sessions given by the Senior facilitators to provide further specific training through observations and the sessions’ reports.

Provide group and individual technical support for the Senior Facilitators to conduct PSS/FPSS/GBV sessions, plan/prepare the sessions, and work with specific cases.

support in the development of the PSS, FPSS and GBV curriculum with the program manager and the protection advisor  and ensuring it is in line with international protection standards and with the organization’s policies.

Complete written documentation per program requirements, and in compliance with NGO’s policy and training.

Competencies and Skills:

 

Minimum of 6 years (4 of which in the field) of professional experience in humanitarian work, preferably in an emergency context.

Substantial experience in Protection, both overall Protection and in sub-sectors of Child Protection, GBV, including conflict settings with refugees. 

Technical expertise in the assessment of, design, and delivery of relevant Protection programming. 

Experience with participatory approaches and working with vulnerable groups, including gender mainstreaming, and with people with disabilities. 

Good knowledge and understanding of Humanitarian Principles and Protection framework, tools, and minimum standards.

Strong management skills with substantial experience managing large portfolios of programming. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Experience in internal and external coordination and representation of programs. 

Professional, hard-working, and a self-motivated person. 

Very strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; collaborative approach with the ability to work within different cultural environments. 

Positive and solutions-oriented leader focused on team-building, problem-solving, and support to the teams and beneficiary communities. 

Flexible and can cope with stressful workload and work with limited resources.

English language proficiency is required.

 

Reporting and Supervision:

Psychologist should report to the Protection advisor in this project
