Background Information:

The Community Organization for Development and Empowerment-TCODE-INITIATE is a Nongovernmental, nonprofit, youth-oriented organization based in Lebanon and dedicated to assisting vulnerable communities through youth inclusion and empowerment. While keeping youth at its focus of its mission, TCODE-INITIATE continually endeavors in creating comprehensive and inclusive programs aimed towards the empowerment of youth, and its concentric circles of influence

In the process of delivering its Mission TCODE-INITIATE aspires to keeping its status as a hub for youth allowing them to: access a safe space, and acquire knowledge and access to a network of social and political influencers enhancing their social participation in decision making processes.

The European Regional Development and Protection Program (RDPP) was launched in 2014 as a multi-donor European initiative combining humanitarian and development funds to support Lebanon. Its strategic objective is to ensure vulnerable communities access their rights, are safe, self-reliant.

Following phase I of the program which was implemented through 45 strategic and innovative partnerships in the region, a second phase of the RDPP has been initiated to run from October 2018 until December 2021. RDPP phase II is supported by the Czech Republic, Denmark, the European Union, Ireland and Switzerland.

The 1001 Nights life skills and Civic Education Program, developed by Big Bad Boo Studio, is a multi- platform educational entertainment program that uses cartoon to teach 7-12-year old children life skill and civic values, including non-violence, inclusion, human rights, democracy, gender equality and the rule of law, in formal and informal learning environments. It’s also used to provide children in conflict with PSS, to promote social cohesion in vulnerable communities and to build resilience amongst vulnerable children as a tool to prevent violent extremism.  

Purpose of the Consultancy:

The Community Organization for Development and Empowerment is looking for a Capacity Building consultant to aid in identifying the needs of, and aid in developing a plan to ensure the development of T-CODE INITIATE, as employees, departments, and organization as a whole. The Capacity building consultant will conduct similar activities as stated below, to partner organizations as will be specified by T-CODE INITIATE

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To Conduct an assessment and to provide an overview and analysis of the capacity strengths and weaknesses across all staff, and to identify the main capacity gaps and demands by different departments. The Assessment should in particular, as far as is practical and realistic, identify and analyze the main human capacity weaknesses (individual, organizational) and should highlight financial and physical asset deficiencies in the organization. The expected results should be well defined to analyze the dynamics that explain present capacity, identify driving forces for change to ensure effectiveness of future capacity development efforts and provide the building elements for developing a demand-driven capacity building strategy in the region.
  • Outline a long-term and sustainable capacity development strategy for the organization, identifying major axes of investment in capacity building as well as opportunities, programs and projects that will enhance the ability of human resources to meet their commitments under the guidance of The Community Organization for Development and Empowerment.
  • Work closely with the Programs Managers to ensure delivery of capacity building activities that are appropriate to respond to the established program goals, purpose, and strategic priorities.
  • Under the technical guidance of the Senior Programs Manager, implement capacity development interventions, such as workshops, mentoring, and organizational assessments.
  • Contribute to the analysis and evaluation of capacity building needs and make recommendations to ensure consistency with the program goals and objectives. 
  • In coordination with other project staff, provide assessment and development plan to partners as required, during the implementation phase.
  • Provide T-CODE INITIATE with the necessary tools and templates to follow up on the progress of the staff and ensure sustainable development goals are met

How to apply

Institutional Arrangement:

  • The Consultant will be working under the direction and supervision of TCODE-INITIATE’s Senior Project Manager and in coordination with the CEO.
  • The Consultant will be supported by the 1001 Nights- RDPP.

Timeframe

The contracting party is expected to provide his services in the period of 02.01.2021 until 31.01.2021

Qualifications Required Title: Capacity Building Consultant

The Individual Consultant should possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Academic Qualifications: university degree.
  • Years of Experience: Local relevant experience of not less than 10 years and good experience with international NGO’s regulations.
