I.The Just Right Start Kit- General Goals

 

The Just Right Start, Anytime- Anywhere” educational kit is a product of Ana Aqra Association under the community based early childhood education program. It is designed to give preschoolers and young children a head start to develop language and critical thinking skills, encourage social interaction and promote school readiness in three languages: Arabic, English and French. This comprehensive kit provides all the learning tools needed throughout the preschool and early elementary years to fully prepare learners and retain them in school.  It helps build a foundation of language development, math skills, and other essential concepts and skills such as social and emotional skills as children prepare to enter elementary school. It provides a range of concepts, activities and experiences that help learners achieve educational goals based on their own interests, capabilities and needs.

 

II. The Just Right Start Kit Content

This kit that is provided in the three languages (Arabic, English and French) includes most of what is needed to easily teach the kindergarten basics in literacy and numeracy such as: letter recognition, phonemic awareness, sight words, thematic vocabulary, numbers and shapes along with instructional materials and board games with rules that children can play at a table or on the floor. All areas of development (cognitive, physical, social and emotional and artistic) are addressed, and as often as possible, integrated into all activities. The kit is divided into three main parts:

Each section is fully coordinated and equipped with the needed materials and instructions all in a portable and storable carrying kit.

Furthermore, instructions for playing the games are included in each kit.

Summary of Main Services to be Provided: 

The Consultant will undertake the following tasks and deliver the following products:

1. Ensure that all the content and the manuals maintain a high standard in quality, in term of educational content and language, while maintaining its integrity i.e. without making any changes of substance; including: Proofreading by fixing any grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors; Maintain a high standard of well written and factually accurate content.

2. Ensure that the English version of the kit content and manual reads well to someone with English as a first language.

3. Ensure that the French version of the kit content and manual reads well to someone with French as a first language.

4. Ensure that the Arabic version of the kit content and manual reads well to someone with Arabic as a first language

5.Ensure the intended changes made within the document are tracked for Ana Aqra ‘s consideration.

 

Outputs/Expected Deliverables The consultant shall be responsible for the following deliverables:

1. Edited copy of the Just right Start Kit content and manuals
2. Service Timesheet and invoice
3. Progress report to Ana Aqra on completed tasks and progress towards planned outputs.

   Task

   Language editing of the Arabic version of the Just Right Start Kit

   Language editing of the French version of the Just Right Start Kit

   Language editing of the English version of the Just Right Start Kit

Reporting Line

The consultant shall report to the Director of Programs and/or to the Program Manager.
