Field Coordinator, Tripoli (fixed-term, part time consultancy, with opportunities for extension and expansion of scope and to full time)

  1. Project Overview

 

International Alert is implementing phase four of the Creating Space for Peace project. This phase will see the expansion to Tripoli and will mainly focus on supporting citizen relations (horizontal linkages) and peacebuilding prospects, and on improving citizen-state relations (vertical linkages) at the local level. The fourth phase will also consolidate and disseminate learning on local peacebuilding and conflict sensitivity and capitalize on this process for influencing and local advocacy. This phase sees a strong focus on real time context monitoring and analysis to share with partners given the evolving dynamics and seeks to leverage our existing  networks and partnerships to enhance peacebuilding impact and contribute to the Communities of Practice related to peacebuilding in Lebanon.

 

In addition to support the Creating Space for Peace project in Lebanon, there is scope for this consultancy also to include new areas of work for International Alert in Tripoli including work on integrating social stability into education-related projects.

 

  1. Overview of Tasks

 

  • Support implementation of the activities in Tripoli under the Creating Space for Peace project and other Tripoli-based projects as required.
  • Facilitate meetings with youth groups members and projects participants.
  • Support and coordinate with research consultants to complete data collection and analysis activities for context updates and perceptions and context monitoring.
  • Outreach to stakeholders, local authorities, and actors, and operating organisations that support Alert’s projects and activities in Tripoli and maintain positive working relations.
  • Build and regularly update list of stakeholders’ info.
  • Represent International Alert’s in meetings and events in Tripoli/North, in coordination with the Programmes Manager.
  • Contribute to organisation-wide learning and exchange on the use of dialogue as methodology for peacebuilding.
  • Contribute to team-wide communications and knowledge management, and participate in organisation-wide events and discussions on related topics/projects
  • Provide regular and ad hoc context updates that support the Programmes Manager and the country team in Tripoli/North.
  • Assist in preparing donor reports and project completion reports, including financial reports.

 

  1. Qualifications and requirements

 

Consultant profile

 

  • University degree in social sciences or relevant fields.
  • Excellent skills in dialogue facilitation and research and data collection, including remote data collection, in Lebanon.
  • Excellent spoken Arabic skills, and excellent writing skills in English.
  • Ability to work both independently / remotely and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism, including following data protection guidelines and establishing and observing systems for managing data safely and securely.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience in context analysis, peacebuilding and conflict analysis in Lebanon, and particularly in Tripoli/North Lebanon, is essential and experience in working with local authorities and networks a strong asset.
  • Prior experience working on education, social stability and in working with partners on training and coaching a plus.

Education degree: Bachelor’s degree  

Experience required:

  • 3 to 5 years

Languages - Arabic: Excellent English: Excellent

 

Period: Part time 2-3 days per week
