The Lebanon Design Fund is intended to support creatives in the fields of design, arts and crafts in Lebanon, whose sources of income have been severely affected by either the Beirut explosions, the financial and economic crisis in the country, and/or the pandemic, by providing temporary financial support. The funding instrument is aimed at freelance creatives who have lost their livelihoods due to the above-mentioned circumstances, and whose projects have therefore been halted OR who are engaged in putting their skills to the benefit of rehabilitating creative and cultural spaces affected by the double explosion in Beirut.

The Lebanon Design Fund supports those creatives keep afloat and ensure professional continuity and further professional development in Lebanon during the difficult circumstances they are currently facing. Meanwhile, the fund aims to contribute to the cultural and creative sector’s revival through the rehabilitation of spaces affected by the recent Beirut explosions. As a result, freelance creatives and the cultural and creative sector they are evolving in can better develop in the mid- and long-term.

During the funding period, the selected applicants will be offered financial support to restore continuity of and/or complete their halted projects OR for their contribution in rehabilitating cultural and creative spaces affected by the Beirut explosions. If they express interest, recipients of the fund resuming their projects can qualify for an online training program on Design Entrepreneurship during the funding period, for which a further selection will take place (up to five recipients could take part). This program aims at building capacity as well as contributing to strengthening cooperation and networking among creatives in Lebanon, as well as with creatives in Jordan and Iraq.
