Mental Health Officer (Beirut & Mount Lebanon)

The mental health officer will participate in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of mental health and psycho-social related activities. The major role of the mental health officer is to ensure that all mental health related activities are implemented successfully in the three supported PHCs in Beirut-Mount Lebanon and in close coordination with the national mental health program.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Act as IOCC’s mental health focal person and assist in the recruitment of the mental health team
• Work closely on all tasks and responsibilities related to mental health with the psychiatrics, psychologists and social workers working at the supported PHCs in the aim to improve the beneficiaries’ mental health wellbeing and psychosocial conditions
• Coordinate all mental health activities with the national mental health program and ensure smooth implementation of all activities with timely reporting
• Support the PHC staff by providing guidance and capacity building for the implementation of qualitative psychosocial care and mental health activities
• Assist in the identification of beneficiaries in need of specific psychological counseling and ensuring support for identified beneficiaries.
• Ensure all work with beneficiaries is confidential and that ethical practices are observed. 

• Participate in the preparation of accurate reports for all mental health related activities.
• Produce timely progress reports, including both quantitative and qualitative information, on mental health related activities

• Maintain good socio-professional relationships with PHCs directors, national and international partners
• Attend capacity building sessions when needed
• Provide capacity building sessions to the team and staff working at the supported PHCs when needed
• Attend all relevant coordination meetings
• Perform other duties as necessary

• Experience:  
• 3-4 years of work experience
• Previous experience in working with vulnerable populations is an advantage..

Working Conditions

• Stationed in the office with frequent visits to the supported PHCs located in Beirut/Mount Lebanon
