Background
USAID’s “Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” (QITABI -2) is a five-year program seeking to improve learning outcomes for all students in public primary schools in Lebanon. Its activity targets an estimated 200,000 girls and boys, including those who are registered in second shifts of public schools.
World Learning has an immediate vacancy for a “Graphic designer and Multimedia Specialist” for its Beirut based USAID-funded Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI 2) project in Lebanon. This position is for Lebanese nationals only.

Scope and Responsibilities
The project is aiming to produce digital e-content in line with the Lebanese curriculum for the English, French, Arabic Math subject - Grades 1 to 6 – with psychosocial support activities integrated and stand alone.
The Graphic Designer and Multimedia Specialist will work closely with the QITABI 2 Subject Matter specialists (SMEs) and Instructional Designer to visualize the content produced by the SMEs into e-resources. She/ he will be in charge of producing the eLearning videos and scenarios, as well as any other highly interactive element within the eLearning course design. She/ he will work closely with the Multi-media Developer and Video Producer to respond to the eLearning development team needs.
Principal areas of responsibility
• Creates and develops graphics, animations, videos, and Web interfaces for Web portals, e-learning, and communications products
• Conducts research and create prototypes of Web portals and e-learning products
• Conceptualizes, designs, and produces graphics demonstrating complex technical constructs and concepts
• Creates interactive designs or animated graphics and videos using a variety of tools, including the Adobe Creative Suite, including Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, as well as 3D Studio Max, and simulation tools, including Captivate, Articulate, and Camtasia
• Participates in Storyboarding and provides multimedia support and technical recommendations for the e-Learning development team and stakeholders
• Collaborates and communicates with all team members to improve end-products
• Handles all the graphs, animations, user interfaces, even printed learning materials
• Develops the resources guideline in terms of template and standards
• Uses skills and expertise in appropriate design packages such as Photoshop, In Design and 3D Studio Max
• Ensures staying up to date to trends and that content upgrades are properly deployed
• Maintains branding of all the produced material in line with the QITABI-2 branding and marking strategy approved by USAID.
Required Qualifications
• Degree in Multimedia and Graphics design, Arts, or a relevant field
• 4+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in multimedia and/or graphic design packages, including the Adobe Creative Suite, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and 3D Studio Max
• Experience using simulation tools, including Captivate and Camtasia preferred
• Knowledge of HTML and JavaScript
• Understanding of human computer factors and interface design
• Ability to function as a creative self-starter and to work independently
• Ability to learn new software and systems quickly
• Experience with content management systems preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within diverse team
• Ability and willingness to adapt to a dynamic set of standards and tools
• Ability to work in a team environment
