Legal Action Worldwide (LAW) is a unique non-profit network and think tank of lawyers which provides creative legal assistance in fragile and conflict-affected areas and places national lawyers at the forefront of legal change. LAW uses advocacy, research, legal empowerment and strategies to bring about this change. LAW’s thematic focuses include: Addressing Sexual and Gender based Violence; Accountability; Natural Resource Exploitation/displacement; and Transitional Justice. LAW’s Advisory Council and Board are comprised of senior international lawyers who advise LAW on the development of innovative casework and legal strategies. LAW’s ground-breaking work has received international media coverage, including in the New York Times, the Times of London, the Guardian, Al-Jazeera, France24, Voice of America, Huffington Post and Foreign Policy.

Lebanon Programme

Since September 2018, a consortium led by Euromed Feminist Initiative is implementing a multi-country project “Strengthening access to protection, participation and services for women refugees, IDPs and host communities”, funded by the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis – MADAD. The overall objective is to improve the livelihood, agency and legal and social protection for Syrian women refugees, IDPs and host communities in the region, with focus on Lebanon, Iraq (Kurdistan Region) and Jordan. 

In Lebanon the project is implemented by a consortium composed of Euromed Feminist Initiative, Care International in Lebanon, Lebanese Democratic Women Gathering and Legal Action Worldwide. The objectives are to enhance security and resilience for Syrian women refugees and women from host communities in Lebanon through supporting and coordinating comprehensive and structured services and referral mechanisms, as well as to support national institutions in their work towards more gender sensitive policy frameworks and legislation.

LAW is focusing on the provision of legal aid, access to justice for survivors of sexual violence and support to the reform of legislation and policy. Legal aid services are provided by lawyers and Legal Information Officers (LIOs). 

LAW seeks an experienced team building facilitator to implement two days team building exercise for the Legal Action Lebanon team to strengthen the communication and the teamwork as well as ensure staff wellbeing. The objective is to improve the team work through improving communications and working environment. The team building consultant will be responsible for facilitating indoor and outdoor teambuilding activities.                                

Functions/ Key Deliverables

The teambuilding trainer will perform activities in accordance with the programme and project objectives as follow:

(1) Provide a practical overview of team spirit and dynamics. (2) Give each participant insight about each team member interaction way and how it can affect the team dynamics (3) Offer solid tactics for communicating better within the team. (4) Identify trigger words and phrases.

• Develop training packs and materials for all modules including case discussion, F&Q, and learning forums to be made available in English and Arabic;
• Provide multiple exercises to allow for self-discovery and frank conversations;
• Coaching on inter and intra personal skills;
• Deliver one (1) training day to a group of 28 team members;
• Submit a training report with guidelines, overall evaluation including participants feedback and recommendations.

At this end of this team building teambuilding, participants will be able to:

• Have a better understanding of team skills and dynamics;
• Identify and develop personal skills to become a more effective team member;
• Establish effective team processes;
• Improve team communication;
• Demonstrate skills that help implement effective changes in the workplace.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications Required:

• Advanced degree in human resources, psychology, cognitive behavious mechanisms or related field;
• Minimum five years demonstrated experience and presenting to a wide range of audience and delivering workshops and trainings sessions;
• Expertise in designing and implementing a wide range of interactive and creative methods to strengthen and improve communication in the workplace;
• Cultural sensitivity and experience moderating meetings of culturally diverse groups;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work on own and take initiative;
• Track record and experience working with international/national NGOs;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic with the ability to clearly articulate information to various audiences.
