Forest Management Consultant

1.Purpose of the Position

The Forest Management consultant at the Association for Forests, Development and Conservation (AFDC) in partnership with the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is responsible for the preparation of the sustainable forest management plan and an eco-tourism plan for the Yammouneh Reserve. S/he applies Forest Management consultant principles and procedures, provides accurate and timely information to AFDC’s Project Manager and LRI Project Director, and ensures Forest Management consultant procedures.

In close coordination with AFDC and LRI’s Project Managers, the Forest Management consultant is expected to accomplish the following duties:

• Duty 1: Develop Sustainable Management and Eco-Tourism plans for the Yammouneh Reserve.
• Duty 2: Develop management units for the Yammouneh Reserve and action plan with guidelines for each unit that fall under the Sustainable Management and Eco tourism plans
• Duty 3: Develop the management plan of Yammouneh reserve through community-based approach by holding up to 5 roundtable events (1 event/month) that will gather the local community, the stockholders and the experts.
• Duty 3: Develop an action plan for the reserve’s committee.
• Duty 4: Recommend the placement of the purchased equipment (benches and kiosks) in the Reserve.

2. Qualifications

The Forest Management consultant should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:

• Experience 1: Degree in the relevant fields.
• Experience 2: Experience in the Forest Management and Eco-tourism plan preparation and reporting for at least 3-5 years.
• Experience 3: Experience in conducting round table events and working with the local communities.
