The WTTC is a unique ICRC hospital project, therefore, health care provided at the WTTC need to be carefully documented and analysed so as to describe what is effectively provided in term of comprehensive care (ranging from surgical, PRP, MHPSS care), inform on the performance and its potential replications. A considerable amount of work has already been done in this regard, however, more investment is still needed - To this end, there is a general consensus to have an Epidemiologist to help the team better document & describe the clinical activities of the project and further analyse clinical outcomes.

When necessary, provide training and support to WTTC members and health teams on the field to collect data in line with WTTC activities, including for regional patients sent to WTTC.

Based on the above, identify current strengths and weaknesses of the current data collection/analysis system and in order to contribute to the development of the incoming new PEARL data system.

Research area

Conduct an internal scan of WTTC activities to identify promising research opportunities.

Review with the team previously identified areas for research, do a literature review and see whether still relevant and feasible to produce research.

Discuss with the hospital team and propose potential area of research : (1) hypothesis, 2) research questions, 3) study design 4) strategy for data collection, data management and data analysis

Connect WTTC with local & external institutions.to involve them as much as possible and, when relevant, in conducting future research projects in line with ICRC operational research concept paper.

Based on the needs identified by the Health Coordinator and Health Program Managers, the Epidemiologist can be requested to provide support to other operational research projects ongoing or to be established in the Delegation.
