How It All Began
In 1989, in war torn Lebanon, following the death of a friend by overdose, a group of active young men rallied around their other friend who had also spiraled down into the whirlwind of addiction. They turned to Father Guy Paul Noujaim who expressed great interest in their cause and offered them support.
Having difficulty finding a shelter to take in and care for that friend, they were finally allowed to set a tent on the grounds of St. Charbel in Annaya, North Lebanon. From one substance abuser, they became many seeking for help...

Our Identity
Oum el Nour is a lebanese not-for-profit non-Governmental Organization registered under notification n◦120/AD, and recognized for public benefit under decree n◦7897.
All the services are provided free of charge without discrimination of gender, race, religion or nationality.
By the year 2014, the organization has helped more than 5,500 patients overcome drug addiction. Through its prevention programs, Oum el Nour is also able to reach more than 20,000 people, including youth, parents and educators...
 
Our Vision
Oum el Nour perceives drug addiction as a pervasive problem, hence the need for a comprehensive service that can cover all of its dimensions. It is inevitable to mention that addiction affects not only the person that fell under its spell, but also his/her family and circle of friends.
Oum el Nour aims to welcome, guide, rehabilitate, accompany and follow drug abusers. The program also compregends parental guidance as we believe they play a primary role in the recovery.
 
Our Mission
Oum el Nour is committed to prevent and treat substance abuse. In addition to that, it serves individuals through empowering them to make healthy choices and live a full and happy life devoid of drugs. It helps them reintegrate society, and become a positive asset to their communities.
