MAGNA (Medical and Global Nutrition Aid) is providing medical care for children and their families in times of humanitarian crises, conflicts, epidemics, famines and natural disasters. MAGNA creates medical humanitarian projects aimed at saving lives and alleviating suffering to those who are at risk. MAGNA’s humanitarian and development programs have been currently implemented on three continents - Africa, Asia, America, in twelve countries (Cambodia, Kenya, DR Congo, South Sudan, Haiti, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Nepal, Philippines, Myanmar, Lebanon and Syria), where in 26 projects and in over 82 health facilities in the world, offers medical, nutritional and psychosocial assistance to people in need. Since February 2016 MAGNA provides emergency medical respond to Syrian crisis in Lebanon.
MAGNA is looking for a Midwife for project of medical mobile primary health care services for Syrian refugees living predominantly in Informal Tented Settlements in Akkar District. The geographical outreach for medical mobile clinic in Akkar is situated precisely within the catchment area of partnering health facilities and it is covering selected Informal Tented Settlements (ITS). All project activities are focusing on improving the access, provision and quality of health care services for Syrian refugees.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Midwife will be directly responsible for implementation and provision of all components of the reproductive health services that are in line with national policies and practices and in line with MAGNA policies, project goal and objectives in aid for Syrian population living in informal tented settlements.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
The midwife is part of the medical mobile unit team and provides -among others- antenatal care, post natal care, family planning and awareness sessions inside the Informal Tented Settlements.
The main responsibilities include:
Monitoring and examination of women during pregnancy.
Giving the necessary supervision, care and advise to women during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period.
Conducting regular home visits to provide antenatal care, post natal care and family planning in the area of informal settlements.
Following WHO guidelines for antenatal care, as well as other relevant guidelines and Lebanese regulations.
Recognizing and managing complications in pregnancy and childbirth, in accordance with the principles of basic emergency obstetric care.
Referring high risks pregnancies to the nearest PHC centers and hospitals for specialized care, laboratory investigations and ultrasounds.
Providing information of supported hospitals for delivery in order to make delivery plan by the pregnant mothers.
Conducting awareness sessions for pregnant and lactating women in the camp, including how to deliver daily care for the baby, breast feeding, bathing, family planning, etc.
Arranging and provide parenting and health education for the woman, her partner and family if needed.
Performing select administrative duties such as patient chart, recording and reporting of data; clinic and/or facility management (as required).
Coordinating specific educational or outreach programs related to reproductive health.
Follow-Up on selected individual patients in coordination with Country Coordinator, Special Case Officers and Specialists.
Ensuring a relevant transfer of information.
Other tasks as they may occur.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 1-2 years of experience
Recognized midwifery qualification (plus inscription to the national register of midwives order of Lebanon)
Organization skills, rigor, flexibility, ability to work with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural and challenging environment, open-minded, good communication skills, ability to listen, emphatic and discretion.
