Has your organization, service institution, or government agency ever had difficulty recruiting volunteers? or had a bad experience with your volunteers? or with volunteer/staff relations? Are you flooded with requests by students who want to fulfill service requirements or companies that want to do corporate volunteer projects, but you don't know what to do with them ... or why you should bother?
Many of the problems related to volunteering could be avoided if organizations had a better idea of how to prepare for, recruit, place, orient, train, and otherwise manage their volunteers.
Two parallel training sessions in Volunteer Management will be offered by the Learning to CARE Institute on three consecutive Wednesdays (May 27, June 3, June 10) at the Arcenciel offices in Jisr al-Basha, John Kennedy St., near Keyrouz Bakery. You may take the morning session 9:00 am-1:00 pm or the later session 4:00-8:00 pm. The fee is $125 for all three sessions (either morning or afternoon). And since it is best if two people from an organization are trained, the fee for the second person from the same organization is only $50. Through these training sessions you can learn how to improve existing programs and develop new ones that are strong, effective, and beneficial to all involved. Training will be in English, but PowerPoint slides will be bilingual Arabic/English, and all handouts will be available in both languages.
Dr. Patricia Nabti, who will be providing the training, has worked in the field of volunteerism in Lebanon for 17 years. She founded and directed the Association for Volunteer Services for 14 years, and has had her own consulting firm, the Learning to CARE Institute, since 2012. She is the Regional Representative for the Arab Nations for the International Association for Volunteer Services (IAVE). She has written two books available in Arabic and English on volunteerism: Learning to CARE: Education, Volunteering, and Community Service and Corporate Volunteering in the Arab Region. And she has provided consulting on volunteerism, not only in Lebanon, but also in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Syria. She is the first, and currently only one of two people with their CVA (Certified Volunteer Administrator) in the Arab region - the other is in Saudi Arabia (a former trainee of Dr. Nabti).
Space is limited. To register for the workshop, please complete the registration form at www.learningtocare.com/volunteer_management. Registration is not final until you deposit the payment to Learning to CARE Institute (Account #474546) at any branch of Banque Audi, and send a confirmation message that this has been done to [email protected]. For further information, contact Dr. Nabti at [email protected].
