Job Summary

The Concern Worldwide is seeking  a candidate for a Capacity Building and Training officer role to be based in Halba, Akkar, Lebanon. Concern Worldwide Lebanon Livelihoods program is designed around three themes: Skill building and income generation, Sustainable Agriculture, and Micro & Small enterprise Development. Concern Lebanon aims to decrease household economic vulnerability and reliance on harmful coping strategies by increasing access to livelihoods and protection information and skills; home-based income-generating activities; and training and career guidance linked to savings and protection for adolescents. Under direct guidance of Capacity Building and Training Specialist, training officers will be responsible to conduct array of capacity building trainings, organize capacity building workshops and develop training material.

Roles and responsibilities

• Ensure that training components and activities are implemented as outlined in the various project proposals and budget in accordance with Concern policies and regulations;
• Take Lead in conducting research on value chain assessment for dairy, citrus and quinoa and organize training sessions for the relevant stakeholders.
• Using a niche market assessment done, identify potential topics for vocational trainings and coordinate with the government and private institutions to hire trainers and implement the trainings;
• Responsible for identifying the needs, challenges and opportunities amongst especially women beneficiaries and their business ideas, and organizing groups and trainings to address the relevant topics;
• Plan and provide support during the training of beneficiaries on technical literacy, savings methodology, financial resources, and risk management;
• Conduct on-going monitoring and evaluation on all project trainings and trainers to ensure that the focus, strategies and activities remain relevant for the beneficiaries and to propose adjustments when needed;
• Maintain ongoing communication with program stakeholders regarding project progress and challenges;
  • Work as a team player providing relevant assistance to colleagues and ensuring that project components, for which he/she is responsible, are interlinked;
  • Ensure to take and maintain minutes of meetings; accurately draft and provide training or workshop summaries/reports.

• Coordinate with the Business Development and Livelihood Officer to develop extensive plans for all project trainings;

Representation and Coordination

1. Represents Concern Lebanon at local, regional and national level in regards to meetings with ARC Consortium members, LARI, donors, stakeholder and other relevant actors as necessary.
2. Coordinate project activities with other actors and stakeholders in the programme area as necessary.
3. Supports Business Development and Dairy food processing projects with adequate research and evidence based planning advise.

Person Specifications

• Minimum Master’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Agriculture discipline, food technology or Project Management from an accredited University.
• Minimum 1 year of working experience with refugees and most vulnerable communities.
• Minimum 3 years of prior work experience in NGOs, preferably in agriculture, food processing, vocational trainings or similar livelihoods components. 
• Trackable previous experience of any writing assignments; blogs, thesis, paper, manual, reports etc.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic is a must.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office and email.
• Experience liaising and collaborating with local government authorities in North Lebanon
