Study Trip to Jordan- land of Biblical and Qur’anic Prophets
Saturday 28 April 2012 to Tuesday 1 May 2012 
As part of its Study Trips program, that joins leisure with non-formal education and aims at fostering personal enrichment and mutual understanding, Adyan foundation is organizing a 4 day, 3 nights trip to Jordan, on the theme of Jordan, land of Biblical and Qur’anic prophets. 
The travellers will be accompanied by 2 lecturers Fr. Dr. Joseph Bou Raad (Dean of the Faculty of Theological sciences and Pastoral studies at Antonine University), and Dr. Nayla Tabbara (Director of Cross-Cultural Studies Department at Adyan Foundation).
Both lecturers will deliver explanations on the Biblical and Qur’anic texts related to the Prophets and figures that will be visited during this study trip, in Arabic.
Detailed Program
Day 1- Saturday April 28 2012Following our arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, we will be visiting the dead sea area.We will start by the visit of Mount Nebo where we can have a panoramic view of Palestine (on the footsteps of Moses/Musa).Following this we will go to Bethany, on the Jordan River, visit the site called Maghtas, in reference to the Baptism site (on the footsteps of Jesus and John the Baptist/Yahya).In Bethany we will also visit Tell Mar Elias where Elijah ascended.Then we will visit the Dead Sea (Lot's Cave) and where the cities of Sodom & Gomorrah one stoodWe will spend the night at the Dead Sea hotel. 
Day 2- Sunday April 29 2012:We will start the day at Madaba, famous for its mosaic map of Jerusalem in the 12th century, then we will head to the neighbouring Mkawer, to a site called Al Mashna’a (Machaerus), where the palace of Herod Antipas once stood and where John the Baptist was beheaded. We will then go to Um al-Rasas (Mef’a) and visit its churches, and the site where it is believed that Mohammad, before his prophecy met the monk Bahira).On our way to Petra, where we will spend the night in a beautiful hotel designed like an old village, we will visit Kerak, famous for its citadel, and on the outskirts of which lies a shrine of Noah.
Day 3- Monday April 30 2012We will start day 3 with the visit within Wadi Musa (the valley of Moses) of the Nabatean city of PETRA, the rose red city and a UNESCO world heritage site, and then visit the neighbouring site of Little Petra, the white city. Both sites are linked to the important history of Arab Christians in the area, prior to the Islamic era.From Petra, we will also be looking at Jabal Harun, where Aaron, Moses’ brother is believed to be buried. We will then head back to Amman to spend the night there.
Day 4- Tuesday May 1 2012On the last day of this trip, we will head north of Amman to the city of SALT, famous for its museum that we will be visiting and famous for its shrine of Jethro/ Shu’ayb, Moses’ father in law, in the neighbouring town of Wadi Shu’ayb.We will then head back to Queen Alia International Airport for our evening flight
