Introduction:

Michel Daher Social Foundation, established in 2014, the objective of the foundation is to reduce migration to urban areas or abroad. 
The foundation aims to support the livelihood of people living in unprivileged areas by helping them to lead more fruitful lives in Bekaa region. It contributes to rural community development through different means:

- Health Centers Management.
- Cultural: Training & Orientation Programs.
- Social: Collective wedding.
- Different Philanthropic and humanitarian activities.

Project description:

Michel Daher Social Foundation conducted a survey that covered 200 private companies in Central Bekaa, to find out what are the main challenges SMEs are facing.

The preliminary results showed common problems that companies are facing.

Some of them are external and others are internal; Based on the above,MDSF decided to start a new project, BSP- “Business Support Program”

The objective of this project is to contribute to local economic development in Bekaa, by supporting SMEs through a program that supports them in the development of different functions to be able to grow their businesses. (e.g.: employees training, outsourcing, business coaching services, etc.)

  • The Project is a four months’ program for owners and employees of medium businesses in Bekaa.
  • The program includes customized business skills training, technical assistance, leadership development, and access to networks to grow their businesses and increase their leadership impact.
  • Through shared and one-on-one sessions, participants focus on strategy and financial planning paired with action-oriented plans. They amplify their role as leaders in their businesses and their communities to create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth and produce wider social benefits.
  • Participants will complete a series of weekly sessions, assignments and follow up by phone calls from the trainers.
  • This will be done with the help of experts’ trainers / coaches and consultants on different topics:
  • Strategic Management – Strategic Thinking, per example conducting a workshop in a participatory approach, analyzing their businesses and consequently their gaps, build their own CEO objectives & balance score cards...
  • Financial management, topics such as mastering the time value of money, making capital investment decisions and more.
  • Marketing, courses focusing on streetwise marketing and understanding of your customer needs, acquisition cost, and unique selling proposition and others.
  • Business Development – Sales, finding ways to increase their sales through a study on their conversion rates, number of transactions, baseline KPI’s and metrics. 
  • Human resources, courses on how to build successful work teams, the adoption of performance management system, how to recruit skilled people and how to retain them.

 Expected outcomes/results:

  • Improved Business Management,
  • Improvement in productivity, including improving marketing and communications,
  • Implementing a strategic growth plan;
  • Growth in Sales and production
  • Job Creation
  • After the completion of the program, the beneficiaries should be able to better define their challenges and opportunities and build a concrete growth plan
