This position is for MSF project activities in Bekaa Valley. This is NOT recruitment for the MSF Hospital in Bar Elias. Hospital recruitment will be communicated before it starts.


MAIN OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

To define, plan, develop, direct coordinate, monitor and evaluate the infection prevention control activities throughout the Bar Elias Hospital according to the Lebanese & MSF protocols and standards in order to ensure the quality of care and safety of patients, caretakers and staff


ACCOUNTABILITIES     

  • Lead in the development and implementation of guidelines, Standards Operational Procedures, strategies on infection prevention and control in the hospital
  • Design and ensure the implementation of correct ‘clean and dirty flows’ inside the hospital.
  • Set up isolation algorithms when necessary and mechanisms for monitoring its adherence.
  • Set up regular monitoring mechanisms for IPC activities, analyzing the results, identifying priorities and proposing solutions when necessary. Prepare monthly report for presentation in the hospital infection control meetings and the medical director
  • In collaboration with each service supervisor, ensure and maintain the implementation of the standard precautions in health structures in all departments including sterilization, laundry and kitchen
  • Ensure compliance to aseptic care techniques and the correct use of antiseptics, disinfectants and detergents
  • Provide technical supervision, training, guidance and support to all staff in the hospital on IPC related issues.
  • Participates and assists in the organization of regularly scheduled hospital infection control committee meetings.
  • Reporting any irregularities to the Nursing Director, medical director and proposes immediate actions when necessary.
  • Line manager and immediate supervisor of the hygiene agents and decontamination/sterilization technicians;
  • Planning and supervising, with the support of HR department, the associated HR processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, potential detection, motivation, development and internal communication) of the staff in the project under his/her responsibility, in order to ensure having the appropriate team in terms of size, capabilities and skills
  • Develops the task, rooster, orientation and training schedules of all the staff directly under his/her supervision Additional tasks assigned by the Line Manager

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

Essential Criteria

•      Specialization or Masters in Infection Prevention and control (IPC)

•      At least 2 years working in hospitals, with extensive experience in the OT or ICU;

•      Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory;

•      Essential computer literacy (Microsoft office and internet);

•      Ability to develop and present educational/training/awareness programs

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience working with MSF or other INGOs is considered an asset;
  • Management experience;
  • Developing documents for standard procedures and guidelines for IPC in a hospital
