DESCRIPTION

The Ibsen Scholarships are accepting applications from international artists interested in working with projects related to Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen.

The Ibsen Scholarships annually award innovative projects in the field of drama and performing arts that act as incentives for critical discourse in regards to existential and society-related subject matters concerning Henrik Ibsen and his plays.

The Ibsen Scholarships were initiated  by the Norwegian government and will be handed out for the 6th  time in 2013. Scholarship funds amount to NOK 1,000,000,- (approx. 135.000 Euro/180.000 US Dollars) will be awarded projects worldwide. As for who can apply, the scholarships are applicable to individuals, organizations or institutions within the artistic and cultural community.   

Ibsen Awards has till now handed out 19 scholarships to projects in 15 different countries.  Among them were “Orient the Day, Beirut in the Work of Ibsen”, the successful series of events that took place in Lebanon earlier this year.

The application deadline for The Ibsen Scholarships is April 30th 2013.

The winners of The Ibsen Scholarships 2013 will be presented at Skien International Ibsen Conference on September 16th and 17th  in Skien, Norway.
